Demon's Crest, known in Japan as Demon's Blazon,[a] is a side-scrolling platformvideo game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the third video game starring Firebrand (an enemy character from the Ghosts 'n Goblins series, known as 'Red Arremer' in the Japanese version), following Gargoyle's Quest and Gargoyle's Quest II.
Another stone to help protect your home from ghosts, demons, and evil spirits is the staurolyte. The staurolyte, also known as the fairy cross, is a red-brown or black crystal that is mostly opaque. The staurolyte is often found in a sort of twinned shape that looks like a cross, thus the name fairy cross. It’s quick, and there is a lot going on all at the same time, but never does Demon’s Crystals suffer from an ounce of slowdown or lag, running smoothly throughout. Any randomly located and spawned. I do sometimes do Crystal Raid, but mostly against the boss. For me it's cause it's not like I have a lot of Demon Realm Crystals. And not like there is another way, maybe easier way to get them. Well, I was told about Expert Mission 18, and I remember having trouble with it before several times. Unfortunately crystals only show up during hordes where your objective is to collect crystals (unlike enemies, which are present during every horde), so since you won't be collecting crystals on.
Plot[edit]
The game's story revolves around the Crests, six magical stones which preside over their respective elements (Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Time and Heaven). When all crests are combined, the Crest of Infinity will appear, allowing its holder infinite power and the ability to conquer all realms with it. The demons of the Demon Realm have long fought each other for possession of the Crests, five of which have since fallen into the hands of a red demon named Firebrand. Seeking infinite power, Firebrand challenges a Demon Dragon for the Crest of Heaven and is victorious, though badly wounded. In his weakness, a rival demon named Phalanx ambushes Firebrand and takes all the Crests except the Fire Crest which shattered into five shards.
As the game begins, Phalanx has already begun using the Crests to become the ruler of the Demon Realm, while Firebrand is imprisoned in an amphitheater and made to fight the zombified Demon Dragon. After escaping the amphitheater, Firebrand sets out to regain the Crests and get revenge on Phalanx. Along the way, Firebrand is repeatedly challenged by Phalanx's general, Arma, who grudgingly returns each of the Crests to Firebrand out of respect for his power.
Finally, Firebrand challenges Phalanx in his castle within the Demon Realm. Depending on the player's choices, three different endings are possible in this battle. The worst ending has Firebrand killing Phalanx and leaving the Demon Realm as it falls into complete anarchy, while a more favorable ending has Phalanx sealing himself inside the Crest of Heaven and Firebrand hiding all the Crests. The third ending concludes with Firebrand slaying Phalanx after he summons the Crest of Infinity to transform into a hideous beast, then tossing the Crests off a cliff after deciding that he does not seek conquest.
Completing the game with the third ending gives the player a special password that allows Firebrand to continue the game with a new transformation, the Ultimate Gargoyle, which allows him to challenge a secret boss named Dark Demon. Upon winning this battle, a new ending plays in which Firebrand casts away the Crests out of pride for his own power, then leaves to seek another worthy opponent to fight.
Gameplay[edit]
The gameplay is a mix of standard platforming, with mild RPG elements.[2] The stages are divided into six main areas and can be played multiple times. Often, the player has to revisit a level with new Crests to access areas, items, and bosses that could not be accessed before. There is also a world map players use to navigate.
Firebrand's main abilities are his fire breath, claws for clinging onto walls, and wings to hover in the air (though he cannot gain height early in the game). As he collects Crests, Firebrand can transform and gain new powers that are specialized for combat and exploration: Ground Gargoyle, Aerial Gargoyle, Tidal Gargoyle, Legendary Gargoyle, and Ultimate Gargoyle. Other items to collect include extra hit points, flasks and spell vellums for using consumable magic items, and talismans that can improve Firebrand's abilities.
Release[edit]
Demon's Crest was released in Japan on October 21, 1994.[3] It was followed by a release in North America in November 1994.[4]
In 2014, Demon's Crest was re-released on Nintendo's Virtual Console.[5][6] In 2017, it was released for the 3DS Virtual Console.[3] It is available for the Nintendo Switch with the console's online subscription service.[7]

Demon's Crystals Ps4
In the late 1990s, I was introduced to a speed freak who lived in inner city Sydney. He was prescribed methamphetamine tablets which he’d crush, dissolve, filter to remove binding agents, and then inject into his arm. So as to not be led into temptation, he delivered himself from evil by removing anything up to half the tablets in the bottle, and then placing the remaining tablets in a padded envelope and mailing them to himself overnight. He’d tell me that while in the shower he’d look down at the drain and see sparkling entities dancing around. He assumed they were hallucinations, but I asked him if he had entertained the possibility that his doors of perception were cleansed by the methamphetamine allowing him to see things he wouldn’t otherwise be able to see. As a side note, when this guy was speeding he’d talk faster than I thought was possible, with his eyes darting around the room and his hands flailing wildly – I helpfully suggested that by wearing dark sunglasses and keeping his hands in his pockets he’d address two of the three giveaways.
A day before the full moon on January 12, 2017, in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, hotel room 33-year-old Chase Clarkson Wall allegedly beat his mother leaving her for dead. She was found with two black eyes and a swollen nose, and blood running from her head down the side of the bed she was laying on. She also had a demon’s name scrawled on her chest in black ink. He “has a lengthy criminal history, which includes convictions ranging from public intoxication to domestic violence to a first-degree felony for manufacturing meth. Wall’s email address has been tied to drug forum posts advertising ketamine, MDMA and other ‘other research chemicals for sale’. The same email was also left in comments claiming his mind was being controlled through ‘remote neural monitoring’.”

I will return to the actual demon later. First I want to explore the connection between meth and demons in general.
Demon vs Daimōn
It’s important to note that the word “demon” is a corruption of the Ancient Greek daimōn (and Latin Dæmon). A daimōn was intrinsically neutral, and was considered an intermediary spirit between men and the gods. A good daimōn was called an “eudaimōn” (“eudemon”) and was considered to be a guardian spirit, giving guidance and protection to the one it watched over. “Socrates said he had a life-time daimōn that always warned him of danger and bad judgment, but never directed his actions. He said his daimōn was more accurate than omens of either watching the flights or reading the entrails of birds, which were two respected forms of divination of the time.” A bad daimōn was called a “kakodaimōn” (“cacodemon”) and led people astray.
I will be using the term “demon” to mean kakodaimōn, but it should be remembered that not all spirits are bad. For more information have a look at “Spirit Possession around the World: Possession, Communion, and Demon Expulsion across Cultures” edited by Joseph P. Laycock
Long Term Brain Damage from Meth Usage
There is a lot of reputable information available correlating meth use with permanent brain and body damage:
“Changes occur in a meth user’s brain that may take years to heal, if they ever come all the way back. … Because of the stress on blood vessels, there is an increased risk of stroke for a methamphetamine abuser. A stroke can result in permanent brain damage or death. Prolonged meth use can cause the user to develop symptoms like Parkinson’s disease. … Even after a year of abstinence, methamphetamine abusers showed impairments in memory, judgment and motor coordination. These changes were thought to result from lasting damage to parts of the brain. … The heavy abuse of methamphetamine can cause lasting changes in personality and intelligence. … A current meth user can become so disorganized that he is unable to cope with daily life. His risk of becoming aggressive, nervous, irritable, violent, suicidal, delusional or psychotic is very high. Some people suffer from schizophrenia. These mental effects may improve but not disappear after a person stops abusing the drug. Former methamphetamine users suffer from anxiety, paranoia and depression that do not necessarily cease when the drug use stops. After ceasing use of this drug, a former user can suffer from an inability to experience any pleasure. This effect alone is enough to send some people back to use of the drug. Users often experience delusions that they have insects crawling under their skin, causing them to pick at their skin for hours on end, resulting in deep sores. This effect results from changes in the brain that trigger compulsive, repetitive actions like twitching or picking at things.”
The Meth, Demon and Shadow People Connection
Most of the anecdotal information I’ve come across connecting demons with meth are from very Christian sources. I’ve trimmed away the Biblical quotes so as to discern what is actually being claimed.
Meth can be administered a number of ways including being injected (intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous), swallowed, smoked, or inhaled (snorted).
One article, titled “Crystal Meth Smoke Demons” focuses exclusively on smoking through a glass pipe, and discusses the pictures of alleged demons appearing in meth smoke that are being posted online. The article claims that “crystal meth is capable of housing demons with its crystal like appearance. These crystals associated with meth are also capable of being portals from hell, and in fact, this is the true purpose of crystal meth… to help deceiving spirits escape from a dark realm to ‘your room’ to ultimately destroy you and your family.”
The article goes on to make another point which I will refer to later:
“Your enemy is present, you even see them in the smoke, and since then you have most likely experienced mysterious scratches everywhere, including on your body. This shows that the situation is BAD! Not only do you have proof of a demons in your meth smoke but you now also have physical proof outside of that picture. When demons are present in this realm they will often scratch things and people, most commonly in the form of three scratches or even demonic writing on the walls, floors, furniture etc. You’re not crazy. You are in a spiritual battle and you know it so…. “
In “Of Ignorance And Demonic Possession: Metaphysical Pot-Pouri For Today’s World: And Then, 3 Big Cheers For PETS” Dr Joseph Chiappalone, MD writes:
“The various molecules in the brain act as keys on locks to allow communication at the quantum level with non-physical manifestation. The various agents, usually called neuro-transmitters, such as serotonin, acetylcholine, dopamine, epinephrine, endorphins (which can appear to heighten pleasure) in regulated concentrations allow stability to manifest. Agonists and hallucinogenics disrupt the transmissions and swing the Centres open as a consequence. This lets the consciousness exit into the now opened astral and demonic dimensions and sub-dimensions, and also lets entities, partial or whole, always EVIL, to enter the aura, the emotional body, the astral body, etc.
Depending on the dosage and strength, damage can occur to the Centres, and then the individual has less control over what his mind does and does not do. This explains the spontaneous and often unwanted trips that occur long after drug ingestion. LSD is the classical offender in that case. The more common disruptive manifestation is mental disease in the form of Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Dissociative Disorder, Anxiety and of course, Depression.
Who would not be depressed having a demon in the aura? These are vicious, malicious, destructive and very lecherous entities. Crystal meth (L.A. Ice), for example, turns users into insatiable, lustful demons because of the energy that has invaded their lower centres. Invariably they become psychotic. In truth, once damaged, they live a vile, demonic reality due to their indiscretions and drug abuse.”
Demon's Crystals Ps4
In “The Truth About Crystal Meth, Witchcraft And Demons” we read:
Crystal meth is in a league of its own. … We have seen countless people fall to the deceit of crystal meth and have their families and relationships disintegrate as a result. Our new goal in life is to educate people about the spiritual battles they’re engaged in every time they pick up a needle or that little glass portal to Hell. …
First off, we do not believe in crystal meth-induced hallucinations. … We do believe other drugs cause hallucinations but crystal meth actually causes your eyes to be opened to an evil and invisible realm. …
On crystal meth, people will commonly report seeing shadowy figures, blurry faces, tall men in dark cloaks appearing and disappearing quickly with a small flash. … Shadow Men are real, not in your head. They are really there in the corner of your eye, spying on you from behind, always lurking, and these Shadow Men have been seen by drug users and non-drug users alike. Some people are naturally sensitive to the spiritual realm so when that person uses crystal meth, the evil realm explodes into their life. The thing about Shadow Men is that they aren’t men at all. They are demons, written about in the Bible. They are Fallen Angels who chose the path of unrighteousness to follow Satan. … On crystal meth, your soul and spirit are closer to the jaws of demons. You can see them more clearly, and you’re more susceptible to giving into their wishes.”
“Doug” from Calvary Chapel Sweetwater in “Just Thinking………Again: Shadow People” writes:
“Shadow people are defined as shadow like creatures. They appear as dark forms in the peripheral of people’s vision. They appear, disintegrate, move through walls and disappear like smoke. Shadow people aren’t like ghosts because they don’t have human features, they don’t appear with period clothing, and they don’t try to communicate. Witnesses have reported being chased or terrorized by them. The encounters typically accompany a feeling of dread.
… Crystal Meth addicts see shadow people all the time. My first response was ‘so what, drug users hallucinate all the time.’ But it’s rare for a group to hallucinate the same thing. When groups of crystal meth users were together they reported seeing the same gathering of shadow people, moving in the same way, in the same place. They all saw the same number of them.
One recovering meth addict says:
They were so dark that they were blacker than the black in the room and they would sometimes be in groups. Sometimes they had dark clothes hanging like gypsy clothes. He always felt like they needed something from him or wanted something from him, like they were weak.
Another former addict gave this testimony:
I would see what looked like patches of smoke or mist. It seemed there was a person lurking in every shadow, THE SHADOW PEOPLE. I would hear voices and see things that weren’t there. The voices were faint whispers faint whispers plotting against me
In looking into this it becomes clear there is a sure link between the shadow people and drug use. I found a couple testimonies where folks weren’t drug addicts but they were seeing a doctor for a mental illness. The doctor had given them prescriptions just prior to starting to see shadow people. There is a movement out there in the world that believes the pharmaceutical industry is poisoning us.”
Saint Jimmy in “The Shadow People: An Experience with Methamphetamine” describes an experience with a group of fellow meth addicts:
“… a large vortex was forming in the corner of the hotel room. From this vortex, which looked like a smoky grey cube imploding on itself, emerged hundreds of shadowy figures. They were roughly human in shape and seemed to be composed entirely of shadows. They had no facial features or clothing or any type of distinguishing marks. Being avid researchers of the paranormal, we instantly recognized these creatures to be Shadow People. Panic quickly set in as the shadow people began to circle the room. … Shadow people are not malevolent beings. They are horrible extradimensional beings that prey on human energy. Not a good situation to be in when we are spun and paranoid enough as it is. We began talking about what we thought the shadow people were and came to the conclusion that they were beings from another dimension that had entered our dimension through the vortex. Methamphetamine had allowed our bodies to vibrate at a higher resonance than usual and this attracted the shadow people.
… Soon, a mass about the size of a human torso began forming underneath the table. It was a large, translucent blob with no discernable form. … The blob started speaking to me telepathically, telling me that it was going to spiritually possess me and use my body to murder my friends. As it was speaking it began climbing up my body. It inserted three tentacles into my navel and began to enter my body. Where the tentacles touched me, I felt a sensation similar to ice-cold needles being pushed through my skin. I wanted to get up and run away but the creature had me completely paralyzed.”
While Saint Jimmy’s friends managed to remove the creature on this occasion, “The shadow people stayed with me for a few months. I saw them constantly, even when I wasn’t high. I personally believe that what we saw that night was real. … Meth basically ruined my life through a long series of events. In the end, I ended up with methamphetamine-induced schizophrenia.”
I was recently informed of what I believe is an unreported case in a Santa Ana (California) drug recovery house, where the residents were people fresh off doing drugs. A few months ago, one girl showed up who was a former meth addict, and this led to poltergeist activity, with things flying around. This girl would wake up with bite marks and scratch marks. The phenomena of scratch marks was covered in the above quote article, titled “Crystal Meth Smoke Demons” Neighbors would see people running out of the house at night. The recovery house is currently closed as nobody is prepared to stay in it.
The Meth and Jinn Connection
Jinn, also romanized as djinn or anglicized as genies, are “supernatural creatures in early Arabian and later Islamic mythology and theology. … The Quran says that the jinn were created from a smokeless and “scorching fire”, but are also physical in nature, being able to interact in a tactile manner with people and objects and likewise be acted upon. The jinn, humans, and angels make up the three known sapient creations of God. Like human beings, the jinn can be good, evil, or neutrally benevolent and hence have free will like humans. The shaytan jinn are akin to demons in Christian tradition, but the jinn are not fallen angels and the Quran draws a clear distinction between the two creations. An exception is Iblis, the islamic devil … some scholars and especially mystics argue, that he was once an angel named Azazel, but turned into a jinn, then he was cast out of heaven.”
Jinn can thus be seen as similar in broad terms to the ancient Greek daimōn.
By way of introduction to the anecdote below, the Bahá’í Faith, founded in 19th-century Persia, is “a monotheistic religion which emphasizes the spiritual unity of all humankind. Three core principles establish a basis for Bahá’í teachings and doctrine: the unity of God, that there is only one God who is the source of all creation; the unity of religion, that all major religions have the same spiritual source and come from the same God; and the unity of humanity, that all humans have been created equal, coupled with the unity in diversity, that diversity of race and culture are seen as worthy of appreciation and acceptance. According to the Bahá’í Faith’s teachings, the human purpose is to learn to know and to love God through such methods as prayer, reflection, and being of service to humanity.”
In “Djinn spirits & crystal meth” the writer, who grew up in the Baha’i Faith, stated:
“I met this interesting Baha’i who’s in his mid-20s through another friend. he’s a recovering crystal meth addict. i was over at his place a couple of nights ago just chilling and we started talking about drugs. he spoke about how crystal meth can make you feel like superman for 24 hours. not only that, it apparently opened him up to the spirit world. big time. he told me that he started seeing what he identified as Djinn spirits all the time, some benevolent and some malevolent, some average-sized and others as big as a house. he even said that he met some Baha’i Djinn. towards the end of one of the Baha’i holy books it’s stated that each letter that flows from the pen of Baha’u’llah, the central Baha’i prophet, has 71 different meanings attached to it. the Baha’i Djinn spirits told my friend that they knew all of them.
he then told me that his girlfriend was a Djinn. imagine my shock as he informed me of this casually over a cigarette…she told him that she was 20,000 years old and he said that she could manifest in any physical form that she chose. her physical presence was overwhelming but he managed to carry on an intimate relationship with her. one time he said she manifested in this not-so-human-looking humanoid form which scared the shit out of him and when he told her to stop it hurt her feelings! he hasn’t seen her for two years.
… it’s generally understood that Djinn spirits have the power to take on the gross form of any creature on our frequency, be it stones, animals, or humans. apparently there is a history of humans procreating with human-incarnated Djinn, as well. there is a disparity between our time and their’s, so any interaction with Djinn spirits requires patience on the part of humans. two years is nothing to my man’s girlfriend. (lol)
then i googled “crystal meth spirit world” and discovered that there is a precedent for what this guy experienced. many people who take crystal meth have encounters with the shadow world and shadow beings, and the accounts almost always match each other. this is probably why some religions, like the Baha’i Faith, warn against taking heavy drugs, for the same reason that they warn not to mess with witchcraft and black magic. it really opens you up to realms you may not be ready to face.”
A comment to this article is well worth extracting information from:
“All of my immediate family, including myself, practices Islam. My oldest brother in Harlem fell victim to the streets and started doing things way harder than Marijuana. He laced his blunts with crystal meth. No lie son, the case is identical, only more terrifying. He’s not only seeing and hearing them, but he almost committed suicide because he couldn’t deal with the portal that he had just opened.
Personally, I’ve had a few experiences like this with Marijuana back in my younger days. I think very few people talk about this because weed has a safer rep than cocaine or meth, but the fact is, all of these substances widen the perception of the user. For better or worse. I’ve seen Djinns change form right in front of me. I’ve heard them converse around me when there was only one other person there with me. Most of them, in my experiences, were threatening. There were a select few that were gentle and loving.
The one thing that I carry from both mine and my brother’s experience is this; I know that they exist and while I don’t know what relationship they have with us, I know that there is a reason for them to be here. Perhaps so that we (humans) can understand that there are other forms of life that, although we can’t see them all the time, function in the same way that we do. They need food, water and sleep too. …
Also, the most dangerous thing about taking any mind-altering substance, is being unprepared. We always take these things without really knowing what waits for us on the other side. The evil ones among mankind AND Jinni count on this. Believe me when I tell you, nothing is as terrifying as being terrified when not in your regular frame of mind. It’s best to leave such substances alone. If your path calls for interaction with these spirits, then seek the safer means of contact.
Word to the wise, evil spirits can’t stand Frankincense.”
Asmoday or Asmodeus
Thea demon’s name scrawled in black ink by Chase Wall on his mother’s chest was Asmoday or Asmodeus.
In the Lesser Key of Solomon, he appears as the king ‘Asmoday’ in the Ars Goetia, where he is said to have a seal in gold and is listed as number thirty-two according to respective rank.He “is strong, powerful and appears with three heads; the first is like a bull, the second like a man, and the third like a ram; the tail of a serpent, and from his mouth issue flames of fire.” Also, he sits upon an infernal dragon, holds a lance with a banner and, amongst the Legions of Amaymon, Asmoday governs seventy two legions of inferior spirits.
In the Dictionnaire Infernal by Collin de Plancy, Asmodeus is depicted with the breast of a man, a cock leg, serpent tail, three heads (one of a man spitting fire, one of a sheep, and one of a bull), riding a lion with dragon wings and neck, all of these animals being associated with either lascivity, lust or revenge. His best known representation comes from this text:
The Lesser Key of Solomon or Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis, is an anonymous 17th century grimoire, and one of the most popular books of demonology. Much was taken from texts of the 16th century, and some of the material in the first section, concerning the summoning of demons, dates to the 14th century or earlier. The Lesser Key of Solomon contains detailed descriptions of spirits and the conjurations needed to invoke and oblige them to do the will of the magickian. “It details the protective signs and rituals to be performed, the actions necessary to prevent the spirits from gaining control, the preparations prior to the invocations, and instructions on how to make the necessary instruments for the execution of these rituals.”
In other words, there are various safeguards in place to prevent the magickian from coming to any harm.
A few minutes online will reveal that a few magickians have been summoning Asmoday or Asmodeus.
I did a long rambling podcast interview titled “Exorcism in the Ancient World” back in June 2016 where I discussed my reservations about invoking Asmodeus at 12:14.

Concluding Thoughts
Demon S Crystals Review
The safeguards in grimoires such as The Lesser Key of Solomon were put there for a reason. So long as a magickian is of sound mind and takes precautions and limits himself to evocations he should come to no harm – as in such a case he stands protected in a magick circle with the demon safely constrained in a triangle of manifestation. I am concerned with invoking a demon as this entails giving the demon permission to enter. Very strong willpower is required to then compel the demon to leave, unless of course the magickian desires to be a human vessel.
In the case of Chase Wall, his drug use along with his belief that his mind was being controlled indicate that he had no business at all dabbling in the occult.
